Project Summary
About Us
We are a team of 23 engineering students from Universiti Sains Malaysia, representing Malaysia for the world's largest student rocket launch competition that will be held in New Mexico from June 19th till June 25th, 2023. Our team, WAU ROCKETRY USM consists of 18 Aerospace Engineering students, 1 Chemical Engineering student and 3 Mechanical Engineering students and 2 Electrical and Electronic Engineering students.

About the Project
Project Mission
- Launch HEBAT 2.0 at 10000 ft COTS category in Spaceport America Cup 2022
- Develop a reliable altitude detection method using Kalman Filter.
- Capture the launch of the rocket in video.
Team's Vision
To give exposure to the youth on rocket science and become a pioneer on high powered rocket development.
Project Timeline
Team's Budget
Our team needs a budget of RM300,000 to compete in Spaceport America Cup 2023 that includes building a rocket, registration fees, travel, and accommodation fees. An additional RM150,000 is needed for research and development purposes.

This is the preliminary budget for the team, and we are starting research and development for the high-powered rocket with the aim of launching a 100% Malaysian made rocket by 2030 in the spaceport America Cup. Our cash flow and expenses are being audited by Jabatan Bendahari USM from time to time.
The Impact
By contributing to our project, Malaysians get a chance to be a part of the project where we will engrave the contributors' name digitally and physically on a metal plate according to the category.

Category 1 (RM1 – RM499)
All contributors' name who contributes MYR1.00 – MYR499.00 will be engraved digitally in a microchip and attached together with the payload.
Category 2 (RM500 – RM999)
All contributors' name who contributes MYR500.00 – MYR999.00 will be engraved on a metal plate and place in the payload bay inside rocket.
Category 3 (RM1000 – RM1999)
All contributors' names who contribute MYR1000.00 – MYR1999.00 will receive a 3D printed prototype of the HEBAT 2.0 rocket.
Category 4 (More than RM2000)
All contributors' name who contributes MYR2000.00 or more will receive a 3D printed prototype of the HEBAT 2.0 rocket and get a chance to sign on HEBAT 2.0 rocket.Besides that, they will also be entitled to get a free ticket to our Gala Dinner that is scheduled to be held on May.
Challenges
Financial Challenge
One of the biggest hurdles we are facing is trying to bring the entire team to attend Spaceport America Cup 2023. Due to the high cost of traveling, we might not be able to bring all the team members to SA CUP 2023 if we do not achieve our financial goal
Conclusion
As a first timer last year, we managed to get placed 7th in our category and 12th in the overall Spaceport America Cup 2022. This year we will work hard and push ourselves to reach our target of 5th place or higher in the Spaceport America Cup 2023. We hope all Malaysians will come forward to support us again. We want to create an impact in the Malaysia Space Industry and bring the nation forward in this field. Your support and contribution is our strength to win this competition.
